Our client, a diversified farming group operating across multiple entities, is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team.

The Role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join the team at the Krugersdorp head office. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities within the group and supporting the overall financial reporting and control functions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a structured environment and wants exposure to a diversified agricultural group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for multiple entities.
  • Process and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare management reports and provide meaningful financial insights.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with cash flow planning.
  • Assist with cost tracking relating to crops, farming operations and other business activities.
  • Process financial transactions using accounting software and maintain data integrity.
  • Support internal and external audit processes.
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely and compliant.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving financial controls and procedures.
  • Work closely with management and operational teams across the group.

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and digital financial tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify variances and interpret financial information.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Manage salary increases, bonuses, commissions, leave and payroll reconciliations.
  • Assist with HR administration when required.
  • Manage company assets issued to employees.

Tax & Compliance

  • Manage VAT, PAYE, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, Provisional Tax, COID and CIPC submissions.
  • Liaise with SARS, auditors and tax practitioners.
  • Assist with B-BBEE verification requirements.
  • Ensure statutory compliance across all entities.

Executive Support

  • Prepare Board packs and financial reports.
  • Support Directors with financial analysis and strategic projects.
  • Assist with ad hoc administrative responsibilities.

IT & Business Systems

  • Coordinate outsourced IT service providers.
  • Oversee Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Support system implementations and process improvements.
  • Coordinate IT assets, software licensing and technology procurement.

Office & Property Management

  • Coordinate office maintenance and repairs.
  • Liaise with landlords, contractors and service providers.
  • Manage supplier relationships and office administration.

Banking & Insurance

  • Manage banking relationships and insurance portfolio.
  • Assist with claims, policy updates and banking facilities.
  • Review supplier quotations and purchasing decisions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead finance and operational improvement projects.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and increased efficiencies.
  • Strengthen internal controls and business processes.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related qualification.
  • Xero experience is ESSENTIAL.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role.
  • Experience managing the full finance function for multiple entities.
  • Strong knowledge of management accounts, Annual Financial Statements and audits.
  • Extensive experience with SARS submissions, VAT, PAYE, EMP201, EMP501, IRP5 and CIPC.
  • Payroll management experience.
  • Previous staff management experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration will be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting Directors across multiple business functions.

Salary

R50,000 – R60,000 CTC per month, depending on qualifications and experience.
