Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Stock Accountant to take ownership of inventory accounting, stock control governance, and financial reporting across their business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, valuation, reconciliation, and integrity of inventory while working closely with the Warehouse, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance teams. This role requires a strong accounting professional with a solid understanding of warehouse and inventory operations, capable of driving effective stock controls, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring compliance across multiple locations. BASIC DUTIES- Manage and reconcile inventory accounts across all branches and business units.
- Ensure accurate inventory valuation, including landed cost allocations for imported stock
- Perform monthly inventory reconciliations between ERP/WMS systems and the General Ledger
- Investigate and resolve stock variances, discrepancies, and inventory-related financial issues
- Review stock adjustments, write-offs, obsolete stock provisions, and inventory aging
- Oversee and support cycle counts, stock takes, and inventory control processes
- Monitor stock accuracy, shrinkage, and inventory performance, implementing corrective actions where required
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial governance, and audit requirements
- Prepare inventory reports, analyses, and recommendations for management
- Support month-end, year-end, and audit processes relating to inventory
- Work closely with operations and finance teams to improve inventory controls, processes, and reporting
- Ensure accuracy of intercompany inventory transactions and multi-currency stock balances
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of inventory-related SOPs and best practices
- BCom Accounting or equivalent financial qualification
- Professional accounting designation (SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA, ACCA or similar) advantageous
- 5–10 years' experience in a stock accounting, inventory accounting, cost accounting, or similar role
- Strong experience with inventory reconciliations, stock valuation, and inventory reporting
- Experience working with ERP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Experience with imports, landed costs, customs duties, and HS codes will be advantageous
- Experience in multi-branch or multi-site environments
- Acumatica experience will be advantageous.
