• Experience of client, vendor and contractor interaction.

• Good communication skills and ability to lead an engineering team.

• Third level degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.

• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and IES (not essential).

• Excellent level of attention to detail and accuracy.

• Chartered Engineer or approaching same.

Senior Drainage Engineer (Civil Design)

We are seeking a Civil Engineer who specialises in the design of sustainable drainage systems, wastewater networks, water distribution systems, hydrological studies and flood risk management. We are looking for candidates with experience of drainage design in Europe, UK or Ireland.

Minimum Requirements

  • A minimum of 5+ years relevant experience in a design environment.
  • Experience designing drainage systems knowledge of the IW Codes of Practice, CIRIA C753 and the GDSDS.
  • Experience assessing Flood Risk in accordance with The Planning System and Flood Risk as per the OPW.
  • A recognised Bachelor of Engineering Degree (FETAC Level 8)
  • Be progressing toward Chartership Status.
  • Be proficient in the use of Causeway Flow , Micro Drainage, AutoDesk, Civil 3D or equivalent.
  • The ability to communicate design intent and philosophy to team members and non-technical interested parties.
  • Experience leading projects from inception through the design process.
  • Familiarity with Irish planning processes.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
  • Have experience in Flood Risk Assessments and Flood Alleviation Schemes.
  • Strong knowledge of Sustainable Drainage Systems and best practice.
  • Experience with Clients on the sequential approach to undertaking a justification test in an SSFRA.
  • A strong ability in the use and manipulation of GIS information.
  • Experience in Culvert Sizing and hydraulic modelling.
  • Procurement, tender assessment, and supervision experience.
  • Knowledge of Revit, or similar BIM packages.

Civil Design Engineer – Roads and Drainage (Hybrid in Belfast or remote)

A well-established multi-disciplinary engineering company is seeking Civil Design Engineer Roads & Drainage) . The Civil Engineer will be responsible for Designs and site visits from time to time. This is a hybrid position but this role may be a remote role for the right candidate.

ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with a background in roads and drainage design from project inception to completion. The role, reporting to a Principal Engineer, will support infrastructure projects and public realm including active travel schemes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design roads and drainage systems in accordance with client brief and standards.
    • Provide technical guidance to Construction Teams.
    • Attend meetings with local authorities and clients.
  • Conduct site inspections.
    • Prepare detailed project reports and documentation.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in roads and drainage design.
    • Knowledge of local authority regulations and procedures.
    • Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills with fluency in English.
    • Proficiency in design software (Site 3D, Causeway Flow, MicroDrainage, Civil 3D or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in Geometric Design.
  • Knowledge of DMRB design standards will be advantageous.
  • Working towards Chartership / Professional Engineer.

THE ROLE

To complete design brief as per the Client’s requirements in accordance with technical standards and best practice.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BEng (Level 8) in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Registered or in process of registering as a Professional Engineer (ECSA) or Chartered Engineer preferred. 
  • Knowledge of Irish, UK and European Railway design standards will be advantageous.
  • 7+ years demonstrable experience in the design of Civil projects including Railways.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, Revit, Civils 3D, Site 3D and/or similar or related Civil Engineering design software.

Resident Engineer, Ireland

A well-established multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm in Ireland is seeking a Resident Engineer.  The roles will be based on a range of sites in Dublin and throughout Ireland.

The Role

To ensure works are constructed in accordance with the Employer’s Representative’s Requirements and that the Contractor carries out all obligations.

 Accountabilities

  • Supervision and associated administration of all Civil/Structural related construction works on site.
  • Supervision of C/S works requirements and instructions from the Employers Representative (ER), Design Team, Client and Local Authority etc.
  • Monitor, measure, inspect and report on works being carried out to the Employer’s Requirements.
  • Assist the Employer’s Representative in Technical and Contractual matters.
  • Prepare regular site progress reports in conjunction with other site Resident Staff with regard to Quality and Programme.
  • Monitor the Contractor’s works for compliance with the Safety Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 and related legislation.
  • Review of Method Statements and Contractor’s Engineering works proposals to ensure compliance with the Works Requirements.
  • Keep and maintain comprehensive records/diary of work in progress and report on same.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience on site, supervising large infrastructure works.
  • Experience in assisting in administering contracts.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA (Pr. Eng) or Chartered Engineer, Ireland (Or in the Process of registering within the next 12 months) 
  • Has experience in carrying out the role or Resident Engineer on urban infrastructure projects.
  • Has a good knowledge and awareness of H&S legislation and regulations.
  • Has excellent communication skills (both written & verbal) and Team working.
  • Ability to define potential problem issues, collect data, establish and report on facts, draw valid conclusions and make recommendations.
  • Experience in carrying out valuations for the purpose of payment for contractors onsite.
  • Experience reviewing and valuing claims and contractual variations.
  • Has experience in the preparation and management of procurement processes including tender production and tender analysis.
  • Demonstrated ‘can do’ attitude.
  • IT skills and familiarity with relevant computer applications.
  • Has completed and hold current Safe Pass and other relevant Safety in Construction qualifications.
